Terms for transporters
These terms govern the relationship between Wikilab Sas and the businesses that offer animal transport services through BauBauCar: application, Stripe account, rides and offers, commissions and invoicing, cancellations, payment of earnings, problem reports and amounts to repay, reviews, suspensions and changes.
Last updated: 29 October 2026
This new version applies from November 14, 2026. Until then the terms of 29 October 2026 remain in force, and you can still read them. Read the terms in force
1. Parties and purpose
The BauBauCar platform is run by Wikilab Sas, with registered office at Via Fiume 32, Reggio Calabria (RC), Italy, VAT number IT02408430805, registered in the Reggio Calabria Companies Register, REA RC-167401, share capital €5,000 fully paid up, certified email (PEC) wikilab@pec.it. Contact: info@baubaucar.com.
These terms govern the relationship between Wikilab Sas and the business that registers to offer animal transport services through the platform (“transporter”). The transporter acts as a business, with an Italian VAT number, and not as a consumer.
BauBauCar provides the transporter with an online intermediation service: visibility of their rides and offers to customers, booking management, collection of payments through Stripe, support and handling of problem reports.
The transport contract is made between the transporter and the customer. The transporter performs it independently, with their own means and under their own responsibility. BauBauCar is neither the carrier nor the transporter's employer.
2. Requirements and application
To apply you must provide: first name, surname, email, phone number, company name, Italian VAT number (11 digits, with a validity check), registration number in the Italian road haulage register (Albo degli autotrasportatori), operating area, vehicle type (van, car, truck, trailer) and the status of your authorisation to transport live animals (valid, in progress, not yet). If the authorisation is valid you can upload it as a PDF (up to 5 MB) with the application. Otherwise you can send it later to info@baubaucar.com and the administration uploads it to your profile.
In the application you must confirm that you are of legal age, declare that you hold civil liability insurance suitable for transporting live animals, accept these terms and the privacy notice, and specifically approve the clauses listed in section 18. Your acceptance and specific approval are recorded with the version and the date. The form is protected by an anti-bot check.
Applications are not accepted with an email address already registered on the platform or already used in another application, or with a VAT number or register number already present in an application that has been submitted, is under review or has been approved.
After you submit, your profile is under review and not active. The BauBauCar administration checks your registration in the register and your authorisation to transport live animals. It can approve the application only after the register check is positive and only if the PDF of a valid authorisation has been uploaded. You can submit the application even if your authorisation is in progress or not yet obtained, but it is not approved until the PDF is uploaded. Once approved, the profile becomes active and verified.
An application may be rejected for: incomplete documentation, invalid authorisation, requirements not met, other. The outcome, approval or rejection, is sent to you by email and on the platform. If the application is rejected, the notice gives the reason and explains how to challenge the decision (section 14).
You agree to keep your information up to date and to notify info@baubaucar.com immediately if you lose, or have suspended, any registration, authorisation, insurance or vehicle fitness.
3. Stripe payment account
To receive payments you must activate a Stripe connected account (Stripe Connect, Custom account type, country Italy, currency euro). You can do this only after your profile has been approved.
Verification details and the bank account (IBAN) are entered in the form hosted by Stripe. BauBauCar does not store the full IBAN: it stores the Stripe account reference, the status of its capabilities and, where available, the bank name and last four digits.
By activating the account you accept the Stripe Connected Account Agreement (stripe.com/legal/connect-account), which includes the Stripe terms of service. The relationship with Stripe is governed by that agreement; Stripe is not a party to these terms. You authorise BauBauCar to give Stripe the instructions needed for the transfers, reversals and deductions provided for in these terms. Collection mandate: you instruct Wikilab Sas to collect from customers, in your name and on your behalf through Stripe, the transport price of your bookings and to transfer it to you under section 7, net of the BauBauCar commission and of the amounts withheld under these terms. The customer's payment to BauBauCar discharges the customer towards you.
Until the account is active and enabled for payouts you cannot: publish or import rides, send offers, be chosen through an offer, receive direct bookings or collect payments. Your rides do not appear in searches.
4. Scheduled rides and offers
You can publish scheduled rides with a route, departure date and time, places, accepted species and a pricing policy (base fee plus per-kilometre fee). The route and the price of the booked leg are calculated by the platform; the customer's price is the base fee plus the per-kilometre fee for the leg, multiplied by the number of animals.
You can send an offer on a customer's open request: a price in euros (to the cent, above zero and up to €1,000,000), an optional message of up to 1,000 characters, optional dates and times and, if you wish, one of your published rides and one of your active vehicles. You can have only one active offer per request.
Before you send the offer, the platform shows you how much you will receive after the BauBauCar commission.
The price you set in the offer, or that results from your pricing policy, is the transport price. The customer also pays a service fee to BauBauCar, which does not reduce your earnings.
When the customer accepts the offer or books the ride, a booking awaiting payment is created. The booking is confirmed only once the customer has paid. If the customer does not pay within 5 minutes the booking is cancelled and the places become available again.
Offer expiry. An offer expires at the end of the pickup period stated in the request (the pickup day or, if the customer accepts a flexible date, up to 1 or 7 days later) or 7 days after it was sent, whichever comes first. An expired offer can no longer be accepted.
Withdrawing offers. You can withdraw an offer that has not yet been accepted and has not expired from your transporter area. The customer is notified. An accepted offer cannot be withdrawn.
Changing and cancelling rides. You can move a ride's departure (the arrival moves with it), change the number of places within the vehicle's capacity or cancel the ride only while it has no bookings and no reserved places. If you cancel a ride, the offers you sent with that ride are withdrawn and the customers are notified. For a ride with bookings you must contact support.
5. BauBauCar commission and invoicing
For each paid booking BauBauCar retains a commission of 8% of the transport price, rounded to the nearest cent (half a cent rounds up).
The amount transferred to your Stripe account is: the total paid by the customer, minus the customer's service fee, minus the 8% BauBauCar commission. In practice you receive the transport price minus 8%.
Example: transport price €100.00; the customer pays €105.00 (€100.00 plus a €5.00 service fee); you receive €92.00 (€100.00 minus €8.00).
The percentages are fixed when the customer opens the payment and do not change for that booking. If the customer cancels late (section 6), the 8% commission applies only to the part of the price you receive.
Invoicing. Wikilab Sas invoices you for the 8% commission and invoices the customer for the service fee. You issue an invoice or a receipt to the customer for the transport price, under the tax rules that apply to you.
6. Carrying out the transport and cancellations
After payment, and while the booking is confirmed or in progress, you see the full pickup and delivery addresses, the time window, the customer's name and phone number and the delivery details the customer adds. You also see the health notes and medications of their animals; the microchip number is never shown. Before payment and after closure you see only the general area.
Transport date. This is the departure time of the scheduled ride. For bookings that come from an offer, it is the pickup date and time you proposed in the offer or, if you gave only the day, 00:00 (Italian time) on that day; if the offer gives no date, 00:00 on the pickup day stated in the request. You can start the transport from the transport date. Customer cancellations are counted from the same date.
Delivery confirmation. After delivery you ask the customer for confirmation through the platform. If the customer does not confirm within 48 hours of your request and has not opened a problem report, delivery is confirmed automatically and the customer is notified. In both cases the booking is marked as completed.
To start the transport and request confirmation you must be active and verified.
Cancellation by you. You cannot cancel a booking through the platform. If you cannot carry out the transport, write to support immediately (info@baubaucar.com). Before the transport starts, the administration cancels the booking with a full refund to the customer, service fee included. In that case you receive no earnings.
After the start. Once the transport has started nobody can cancel the booking, not even the administration. Problems that arise after the start are handled through “Report a problem” (section 8).
Cancellation by the customer. The customer can cancel a confirmed booking until you start the transport. The refund depends on the time left before the transport date:
- more than 48 hours: the customer is refunded the transport price and you receive no earnings;
- from 48 to 24 hours: the customer is refunded 50% of the transport price and you receive the other 50%, minus the 8% commission on that part;
- less than 24 hours, or after the transport date if you have not yet started it: the customer gets no refund of the price and you receive the transport price minus the 8% commission;
- in all cases the customer's service fee is not refunded, and the earnings due for the cancellation are transferred 48 hours after the cancellation, under the conditions in section 7;
- example: transport price €100.00; if the customer cancels 30 hours before, they receive €50.00 and you receive €46.00 (€50.00 minus €4.00); if they cancel 10 hours before, they get no refund of the price and you receive €92.00.
7. Payment of earnings
When delivery is confirmed, by the customer or automatically, the transfer of your earnings is created. The transfer is sent 48 hours after delivery confirmation, to leave time to report a problem. Earnings for a late customer cancellation, or for a cancellation for customer responsibility, are sent 48 hours after the cancellation.
After the transfer to your Stripe account, the payout to your bank account follows Stripe's payout schedule and your bank's timing.
The transfer stays on hold, without you losing your right to the earnings, while a problem report is open on the booking, while a bank dispute (chargeback) is open on the payment, or while a refund not yet confirmed by Stripe is in progress.
If, when the transfer is due to be sent, your account is suspended, your profile is not active or verified, or your Stripe account is not active and enabled for payouts, the transfer is not made but remains due. It is retried automatically once you are back in good standing. If the situation has not been regularised after 12 months, the amount remains due and is paid to you on your written request to info@baubaucar.com, to an account in your name that you indicate, until the limitation period expires.
Amounts you owe BauBauCar (sections 8 and 9) are withheld from transfers. You receive a notice with the amount withheld.
If the customer has received a full refund of the transport price (for example after a cancellation), no earnings are due.
8. Problem reports and refunds charged to the transporter
You and the customer can open a report (“Report a problem”) on a paid booking while it is confirmed or in progress and up to 7 days after it is completed or cancelled. The rules on reasons, messages, photos and decisions are the same as in the terms for customers. The administration decides within 14 days of the report being opened. Every decision is explained in a note visible to both parties.
If the administration finds that the problem is attributable to you, it may grant the customer a refund. The refund is charged to you, up to the earnings still due for that booking (the transport price, minus the BauBauCar commission, minus any refunds already granted on reports). The customer's service fee and the BauBauCar commission are not refunded through a report.
If the transfer has not yet been sent, it is reduced by the refunded amount, or cancelled if nothing remains.
Reversal. If the transfer has already been sent, you authorise BauBauCar to reverse the refunded amount from your Stripe account (transfer reversal), up to what was transferred to you for that booking. The reversal is automatic.
Set-off and payment request. If the reversal fails or does not cover the whole amount, for example because your Stripe balance is insufficient or because part of the earnings had already been withheld for other amounts owed, the difference remains payable by you as an amount owed to BauBauCar. You can see it on your dashboard and on the booking page. BauBauCar withholds it from later transfers (set-off). If the amount is still not covered after 30 days, you receive a formal payment request by email.
9. Bank disputes (chargebacks)
If the customer disputes the payment with their bank, the transfer of your earnings stays on hold while the dispute is open. You must cooperate by providing BauBauCar, within 5 working days of the request, with useful evidence (for example pickup and delivery confirmations, communications).
If the dispute is closed in BauBauCar's favour, the transfer resumes.
If the dispute is lost and the transfer has not yet been sent, the earnings are not transferred.
Charging of lost disputes. If the dispute is lost after the transfer has already been sent, the administration assesses whether the cause is attributable to you (for example missed pickup or delivery, damage, transport not carried out as agreed). If it is not, nothing is charged to you. If it is:
- it sends you, by email and on the platform, the proposed charge and the reason: the disputed amount, up to what you received for that booking, plus the fee Stripe charged for the dispute;
- you have 7 days to reply to support with your reasons;
- after the 7 days the administration confirms or withdraws the charge;
- a confirmed charge is recovered through a reversal from your Stripe account and, for any part the reversal does not cover, through the set-off and formal payment request described in section 8.
10. Transporter obligations
You are solely responsible for your tax, social security and safety obligations relating to the transport business.
Public profile. Your public profile shows your business name, description, average rating and reviews (section 12). You can add a public description of up to 300 characters. Do not include contact details or information that would take contact off the platform: email addresses, phone numbers, links, social profiles, addresses, IBANs, tax codes or VAT numbers and number plates are removed automatically.
Non-circumvention. For 12 months after a contact made on BauBauCar you may not conclude off the platform, with the same customer, transports that arose from that contact (request, offer or booking), nor suggest to the customer that they do so. A breach may lead to suspension of your account (section 13).
Insurance. You must hold and maintain civil liability insurance suitable for transporting live animals, as declared in your application. BauBauCar may ask you for a copy of the policy at any time. The cover is your responsibility and the customer is informed that it is the transporter's.
Animal documents. The animal documents required by law for the journey are the customer's responsibility. If the customer does not show them at pickup, you can refuse the transport. Report it immediately through “Report a problem”, before starting the transport. The administration cancels the booking for customer responsibility: no refund is due to the customer and you receive the transport earnings, net of the BauBauCar commission, 48 hours after the cancellation (section 7).
You must also:
- comply with Regulation (EC) 1/2005 on the protection of animals during transport and the national implementing rules, including the animal's fitness to travel, journey documentation and vehicle conditions;
- hold and keep valid the authorisations, registrations and qualifications required for the transport you carry out, and show them when asked by the customer, BauBauCar or the authorities;
- refuse to transport an animal that is not fit to travel, informing the customer and BauBauCar;
- keep to the agreed dates, times and conditions and tell the customer immediately about any delay;
- use the customer's information, including health notes and medications, only to carry out the transport and not keep it longer than necessary;
- treat the customer and the animal with respect.
11. Ranking and visibility
Ride search. The search considers only published rides (including partly or fully booked ones) of transporters who are active, verified and have an enabled Stripe account, with a departure within the date window searched, compatible species, a route passing near the customer's pickup and then delivery point, and enough places on the leg. Rides are ranked, in this order, by: how close the departure is to the date searched; the smallest overall distance between the customer's points and the route; the most places left; the soonest departure; identifier. Distance from the customer and the date carry the most weight because they determine how useful the ride is to the customer.
Automatic matching. For open requests the platform automatically looks for compatible rides and suggests them to the administration, which may propose them to the customer. Rides are ranked by a score that considers, in order of weight: the distance between the customer's points and the route, the gap between the departure and the pickup date, and the places available. Relay combinations, where the animal is handed over at an exchange point, also consider the waiting time and the distance from the exchange point, and come after direct rides when other conditions are equal.
Offers. The customer sees the offers received from newest to oldest.
No payment to BauBauCar affects the ranking. The average rating is shown next to rides and offers, but reviews do not affect the ranking.
12. Reviews
The customer can leave one review per completed booking (rating from 1 to 5, comment of up to 1,000 characters). Reviews cannot be edited.
Reviews are published on your public profile, with the average and the distribution of ratings. The author is shown only as a verified customer, with the month of the review. Only customers with a completed booking can leave a review. Reviews left before reviews were published on the profile remain visible only to you and the customer and do not count in the average.
You can reply once to each review, from the booking page, with a text of up to 1,000 characters. The reply is final and cannot be edited.
The administration may hide a review or a reply that contains, for example, insults, personal data or unlawful content, stating the reason. If it hides your reply, it sends you the reason by email and on the platform. You can report a review from the “Report content” page.
13. Suspension, restriction and termination
BauBauCar may suspend your account, for a fixed or indefinite period, close it permanently or change your profile's verification status (for example to suspended or rejected) if these terms or the law are breached, requirements are no longer met, there are risks to animals or customers, or in case of fraud or abuse, including a breach of the non-circumvention rule.
When your account or verified profile is suspended, active sessions are closed and, for as long as the suspension lasts, you cannot publish, send offers or start transports. Transfers remain due and are made once you are back in good standing (section 7).
When your account or verified profile is suspended, your profile is rejected or your account is permanently closed, your published rides, even if booked, are also cancelled and the offers you sent are withdrawn. Confirmed bookings that have not yet started are cancelled with a full refund to the customer, service fee included, and the customer receives an email. Bookings already started remain and are handled through problem reports (section 8).
We notify you of the decision and the reasons on a durable medium (email) and on the platform, before or at the time the restriction or suspension takes effect, explaining how to challenge it. In case of permanent closure the account is suspended at once and the relationship ends 30 days after the notice, which states the reasons and the date, except where the law allows immediate termination (legal obligations, compelling reasons, repeated breaches).
You can challenge the decision through the complaints channel (section 14). If the decision is reversed, your profile is restored without delay.
You can end the relationship at any time by writing to info@baubaucar.com, once bookings already paid have been carried out or settled.
14. Complaints
You can make complaints free of charge about: failure to comply with these terms or with Regulation (EU) 2019/1150, technical problems with the platform, decisions or conduct of BauBauCar that affect you (including suspensions, rejections and charges). Write to info@baubaucar.com setting out the facts.
We normally acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days, review it and tell you the outcome in writing, with the reasons. This is the internal complaint-handling system required by Regulation (EU) 2019/1150.
15. Changes to these terms
We notify you of each new version of these terms at least 15 days before it takes effect, by email and with a notice on the platform, stating the date it takes effect. The notice period may be longer if technical or commercial adjustments are needed. Until that date the previous terms remain in force.
You can terminate the relationship before the new version takes effect by writing to info@baubaucar.com.
The notice period does not apply when the change is required by law or is needed to deal with an unforeseen and imminent danger to the security of the service, customers or animals.
From the date it takes effect you accept the new version from your dashboard, together with the specific approval in section 18. Until you have accepted it you cannot send offers or publish or import rides; you can still carry out bookings already confirmed. Your acceptance is recorded with the version and the date.
16. Liability
You are liable to the customer for carrying out the transport and for damage caused to the animal or to property, under the rules on transport contracts.
You indemnify BauBauCar against third-party claims or penalties arising from your breaches of the law or of these terms.
Limitation of liability. BauBauCar is not liable for carrying out the transport. It is liable to you for the operation of the intermediation service and of the transfers it handles. Except for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, for which liability remains in full (article 1229 of the Italian Civil Code), BauBauCar's liability does not exceed the total BauBauCar commissions you paid in the 12 months before the event that caused it.
17. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Italian law.
Any dispute between Wikilab Sas and the transporter falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Reggio Calabria, where Wikilab Sas has its registered office.
These terms are written in Italian and translated into English and Spanish for convenience. In case of discrepancy the Italian text prevails.
18. Specific approval
Under articles 1341 and 1342 of the Italian Civil Code, the transporter specifically approves the following clauses:
- reversal from the Stripe account of refunded or charged amounts (sections 8 and 9);
- set-off against later transfers and formal payment request (sections 7, 8 and 9);
- suspension and non-execution of transfers (section 7);
- charging of lost bank disputes (section 9);
- non-circumvention rule (section 10);
- limitation of BauBauCar's liability (section 16);
- suspension, restriction and closure of the account (section 13);
- exclusive jurisdiction (section 17).
